We stand in solidarity with our partners and members of the immigrant community to condemn the arrest of Vietlead’s Executive Director and co-founder Nancy Nguyen. Nancy was arrested for defending the rights of immigrants being held by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE): she engaged in peaceful protests outside the home of acting ICE director Tony Pham in order to call attention to horrific human rights abuses in ICE detention centers.

For the November 2018 H-CAN monthly meeting, the Immigration and Refugees group is once again partnering with St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ardmore to host a community-building event including 3 guest speakers and a potluck dinner. The speakers are from 3 different nonprofit organizations serving local immigrant communities.
Women’s March and partner organizations organized a mass civil disobedience called "End Family Detention: Women Take Action" in Washington, D.C.
H-CAN members Sara Atkins and Ann Elise Catherine Mclaughlin were arrested in the action and share their experiences with us here.
