H-CAN Racial Justice Action Group Presents Diversity and Inclusion Report to School Board

On Thursday, April 19, 2018, H-CAN's Krista Malott circulated and spoke at the School District of Haverford Township school board meeting about the Racial Justice Group's report on racial tension in our schools and recommendations to combat it. H-CAN members came out to the school board meeting in force to support.

H-CAN's Racial Justice Report in Philadelphia Inquirer

On September 26, 2018, the Philadelphia Inquirer published their article “Haverford Schools to face charges of racial harassment at public forum.” The article highlights the Diversity and Inclusion report that members of H-CAN’s Racial Justice group presented to the Haverford school board.

Haverford OKs Rules to Make Schools More Trans-Friendly

On November 29, 2017, the Delco Times published the article "Haverford OKs Rules to Make Schools More Trans-Friendly" after the School District of Haverford Township voted unanimously to adopt a "new policy created for the purpose of protecting rights and meeting needs of gender expansive and transgender students." Members of H-CAN's LGBTQ+ action group had asked the school board to adopt the policy back in March 2017.

Haverford Introduces Policy to Protect Transgender Students

On November 10, 2017, the Delco Times published the article "Haverford Introduces Policy to Protect Transgender Students" after the School District of Haverford Township introduced a proposed School Board Policy 259 that would ensure "equity and non-discrimination for gender expansive and transgender students."
